 Wednesday 20th August. Lunesdale, Kingsdale, Deepdale and Dentdale from Sedbergh.

Join me on a 2 Bike Ride from Sedbergh starting at 9.30am.

Parking and Route.

From the M6 enter Sedbergh, pass the garage on your right and look out for a right turn signed Dent. Turn right and follow the road round and park alongside the school playing field or the Cemetery. We ride down the Lune Valley to Barbon and Cowan Bridge for coffee. (12miles). After coffee it’s Leck, Burton in Lonsdale, Thornton and into Kingsdale. Kingsdale Head, Deepdale and Dent for lunch. Return via Gawthrop to Sedbergh. Distance: 34 miles and 3700 ft of ascent.

Note. The ride differs from the runs list because of the road into Dentdale being closed at Denthead.

Holiday Thursday 18th to Sunday 21st September

  With thanks to Adella, we have identified an option for a holiday at Cote Ghyll Mill Youth Hostel near Osmotherley , east of Northallerton . There looks to be a great choice of road cycling gravelling and MTB nearby.  We are proposing to book the hostel entirely for our use from Thursday 18th September to Sunday 21st September . The property does not do self-catering; we either take B & B or full board including a packed lunch and 2 course evening meal and the full board option is very economical so that is what we propose. The property has 14 bedrooms each with 2, 4 or 6 beds in them and all of them are ensuite. I have worked on the basis of 2 people sharing a room but one room (at least) could be turned into a single-sex dorm style room. They are all bunk beds but 5 of the rooms have a lower bunk which is a double bed. If 2 people are in a room for 4 (or 6) they will both be able to have a lower bunk I have worked out the cost on the basis of 2 people sharing each roo...

Trivets Wednesday 2 July 2025

We had another successful planning meeting on Thursday – thanks to all those who came along. If it isn’t there already, please put the date of 2 July in your diary for our Trivets event starting from Dalston Victory Hall. This is a great opportunity to showcase our lovely area to visitors and the figure of 8 route from Dalston, taking in Mungrisdale in the morning and the Solway coast in the afternoon, does just that. We’ve been running Trivets events at least from 2010 – that’s as far back as Nigel and I go – and even if you aren’t up to the riding, it’s always a great day, meeting like minded cyclists and having fun. We can’t do this without the full participation of the club so we hope you will volunteer to help. There is a form to complete to help us spread the jobs around and to make sure we don’t end up with not enough soup and too much crumble!
