3 bike ride- Sunday 31st August

I hope to see some of you on my ride on Sunday from Greystoke.   The ride will start at 9.30am and it will be a tour of villages around Penrith.  The route will meander down to Ullswater and go round the Penrith countryside anti-clockwise.   Stop for refreshments at Morland at about 22 miles and/or at Melmerby at 33 miles.    We will go through 16 villages and hamlets.   Total distance will be about 52 miles.   Phone or text 07709710301 if you intend to join the ride.

Holiday Thursday 18th to Sunday 21st September

  With thanks to Adella, we have identified an option for a holiday at Cote Ghyll Mill Youth Hostel near Osmotherley , east of Northallerton . There looks to be a great choice of road cycling gravelling and MTB nearby.  We are proposing to book the hostel entirely for our use from Thursday 18th September to Sunday 21st September . The property does not do self-catering; we either take B & B or full board including a packed lunch and 2 course evening meal and the full board option is very economical so that is what we propose. The property has 14 bedrooms each with 2, 4 or 6 beds in them and all of them are ensuite. I have worked on the basis of 2 people sharing a room but one room (at least) could be turned into a single-sex dorm style room. They are all bunk beds but 5 of the rooms have a lower bunk which is a double bed. If 2 people are in a room for 4 (or 6) they will both be able to have a lower bunk I have worked out the cost on the basis of 2 people sharing each roo...

Trivets Wednesday 2 July 2025

We had another successful planning meeting on Thursday – thanks to all those who came along. If it isn’t there already, please put the date of 2 July in your diary for our Trivets event starting from Dalston Victory Hall. This is a great opportunity to showcase our lovely area to visitors and the figure of 8 route from Dalston, taking in Mungrisdale in the morning and the Solway coast in the afternoon, does just that. We’ve been running Trivets events at least from 2010 – that’s as far back as Nigel and I go – and even if you aren’t up to the riding, it’s always a great day, meeting like minded cyclists and having fun. We can’t do this without the full participation of the club so we hope you will volunteer to help.
