 From Penrith beacon edge 9.30 am.  To Pooley Bridge via great strickland/shap/ Bampton. Return via Dacre/ Matterdale/ Greystoke . Cafe Granny Dowbykins at pooley bridge at 26 miles , can also get refreshments at Askham at 22.

 Just short of 50 miles, 3100 ft ascent. Shorter return options to cut the corner off to Greystoke if needs be

Hopefully weather will hold out, be great if some can join me , combines the lovely back roads down to Askham from shap and out to matterdale from Dacre.

Trivets Wednesday 2 July 2025

We had another successful planning meeting on Thursday – thanks to all those who came along. If it isn’t there already, please put the date of 2 July in your diary for our Trivets event starting from Dalston Victory Hall. This is a great opportunity to showcase our lovely area to visitors and the figure of 8 route from Dalston, taking in Mungrisdale in the morning and the Solway coast in the afternoon, does just that. We’ve been running Trivets events at least from 2010 – that’s as far back as Nigel and I go – and even if you aren’t up to the riding, it’s always a great day, meeting like minded cyclists and having fun. We can’t do this without the full participation of the club so we hope you will volunteer to help. There is a form to complete to help us spread the jobs around and to make sure we don’t end up with not enough soup and too much crumble!
