We had another successful planning meeting on Thursday – thanks to all those who came along. If it isn’t there already, please put the date of 2 July in your diary for our Trivets event starting from Dalston Victory Hall. This is a great opportunity to showcase our lovely area to visitors and the figure of 8 route from Dalston, taking in Mungrisdale in the morning and the Solway coast in the afternoon, does just that. We’ve been running Trivets events at least from 2010 – that’s as far back as Nigel and I go – and even if you aren’t up to the riding, it’s always a great day, meeting like minded cyclists and having fun.

We can’t do this without the full participation of the club so we hope you will volunteer to help. There is a form to complete to help us spread the jobs around and to make sure we don’t end up with not enough soup and too much crumble! Please take a moment to complete it here

Registration for entry is also now open; visit our website or go directly via this link  Rides are either 100 miles or 100 kms. Please come along on one of our pre-ride days, especially if you think you could help to lead a group. On Wednesday 21 May we will be familiarising ourselves with the southern loop (50 miles/kms) and conducting an initial risk assessment of the route and on Wednesday 4 June we will be doing the same with the northern loop. This is also a chance to discuss what a ride leader does and how they manage a ride so, whether or not there is a budding ride leader inside you, please come along.

Our next planning meeting is on Monday 9 June at 10.30 am, following on from our Committee meeting at 10 am. It will be held at Daffodils cafe in Penrith, St Andrew’s Church yard, a couple of doors down from the library. It isn’t essential for you to come as long as you have completed the on-line form, but the more heads involved in the planning, the better.

Holiday Thursday 18th to Sunday 21st September

  With thanks to Adella, we have identified an option for a holiday at Cote Ghyll Mill Youth Hostel near Osmotherley , east of Northallerton . There looks to be a great choice of road cycling gravelling and MTB nearby.  We are proposing to book the hostel entirely for our use from Thursday 18th September to Sunday 21st September . The property does not do self-catering; we either take B & B or full board including a packed lunch and 2 course evening meal and the full board option is very economical so that is what we propose. The property has 14 bedrooms each with 2, 4 or 6 beds in them and all of them are ensuite. I have worked on the basis of 2 people sharing a room but one room (at least) could be turned into a single-sex dorm style room. They are all bunk beds but 5 of the rooms have a lower bunk which is a double bed. If 2 people are in a room for 4 (or 6) they will both be able to have a lower bunk I have worked out the cost on the basis of 2 people sharing each roo...

Simple Survey of interest in group holiday

As discussed at the AGM - we need to get some indication of interest in a club week away next year 2025. We are thinking11-18 May so.......
