3 Bike Ride - Sunday 29th August

The ride will start from the Sycamore Tree Cafe, Longtown at 9.30am.   The route will be to Penton, Newcastleton then the B6357 eventually arriving at Bonchester Bridge at about mid-day.   (the pub will open for lunches from 12 noon).   From B.B. the route will be to Hermitage, Din Fell and the A7 for a short distance before taking a bit of a scenic diversion into Langolm.    Then back to Longtown via Claygate and Harelaw.    Total distance 84 miles approx.     The route is undulating throughout.  The roads are usually quiet.   At the moment the forecast for Sunday seems reasonably okay.    I hope to see some of you on the ride.😢😭😤 The route is  here

2 Bike ride, Sunday 29th August

Rosie will be leading a ride from Beacon Edge cemetery lay-by Penrith, leaving at 9.30 and going to Dufton for a picnic or lunch at the cafe, returning via Knock, Newbiggin and Temple Sowerby. Possible stop at Cafe Velo. About 40 miles.

 Not a matter of great moment, I am hoping to be at Morland for 11s tomorrow. If I don't see anyone else I may be sad; I may not.

Choice of great rides to-day - see John's post below!   Meet at 9.30 in lay-by on A684 at GR 600923. Take junction 37 off M6 and drive east 1/2 mile (800m) to large set back lay-by on north side of Sedburgh road. Brunch at chip buttie van, Milnthorpe. Loop round Arnside, Silverdale and Beetham. 3 Bike Ride Wednesday 25th August from Armathwaite.

09:30 the bridge at Armathwaite (parking on bridge) a sharp right turn for Staffield, Newbiggin, Talkin, Forest Head, Brampton Junction & early lunch at the White Rabbit Tearoom (22 mile). Lanercost, Hethersgill, coffee stop at Newtown, Hadrians Wall Snack Shed (37 mile). Irthington, Wetheral & back to Armathwaite (50 mile). There are no 'serious' climbs, approx, 3000 feet elevation gain, however some of the climbs are short, sharp, little 'stinkers'. Probably between a 2 & 3 bike Ride. 2 Bike Ride, Wednesday 18th August

 Leave Dalston new car park at 9.30 for elevenses at UpFront Gallery, Unthank. Then route via Ellonby to Mosedale and along the fellside road to Hesket Newmarket and Caldbeck.  Meet at 9.30 in Lay-by on A684 at GR 600923. Take junction 37 off M6 and drive east 1/2 mile (800m) to large set back lay-by on north side of Sedburgh road. Route goes down the Lune valley for BYO elevenses at Ruskin's View, Kirkby Lonsdale. BYO lunch at Borwick (3km south of Burton-in-Kendal). Outdoor tea at Crooklands on way back north.
