Sunday 3 ride from Culgaith to Kirkby Stephen

Hi all, hope you can join me for a ride on Sunday, starting at 09:30.  The ride will start and finish in Culgaith, next to the school and opposite the rec, what-three-words ///crispier.contexts.nuptials.  There is space to park between the school and the recycling bins, or on the road next to the rec.  The 101km route goes south to Orton, east to Kirkby Stephen and Brough then back north via Appleby .  Lunch stop planned for Owens Framshop nr Kirkby, and could stop at Orton for coffee and Appleby for ice cream.  There is approx. 1040m of climbing according to Garmin Connect.  I added Course points to the gpx for Orton, Owens and Appleby.  ROUTE HERE. 

 

There might be roadworks in Kings Meaburn (expect to be able to get through) and it looks like Doomgate might be shut in Appleby (if so then we will use the main road).

Pyrenean Foothills (Mediterranean France) Cycle Tour

The landscape between Carcassonne, Foix and Perpignan is a delightful place to ride a road bike. It is peppered with deep gorges, vineyards, thick forests and spectacular medieval castles. The narrow roads that link the pretty, sun-baked villages are quiet, generally well surfaced and far from flat, making for a satisfying exploration of this beautiful area. Phil and I have signed up to join Marmot Tours “Pyrenean Foothills” trip from 15 th  to 22 nd  May next year. The trip starts and finishes in Foix (free transfers from/to Toulouse airport) and offers 6 days of cycling with several choices of route on each day.
