Gretna to Eskdalemuir Wed 15th

 Hi all,

Wed 15th July ride from the car park in the centre of Gretna, just off Central Avenue starting at 9:30am.

Chapelknowe, Paddockhole, Bailehill, Castle O'er, Eskdalemuir for café stop at 24miles. If anyone is interested we can make a quick visit of the Samye Ling Tibetan Monastery which is around an extra mile there and back from the coffee stop. The coffee stop has an electric bike charging point but you need to fetch your own charging cable. Back via Boreland and Lockerbie where we can stop for ice-cream then back to Gretna via Kettleholm and Hoddam.

Weather is forecast sunny with a light breeze, roads are rolling nothing too steep, gradual climb to the café then gradual downhill back, scenic route. I have named the route 'Wind Farms' as you will see a lot on the hills around us, but we are not getting up close enough to give any of them a hug, its just an excuse for me to name the ride starting with the letter W, makes it easy to find on the Garmin as it appears at the bottom of the list. Note to self, need to clear out some rides from my bike computer.👍

Pyrenean Foothills (Mediterranean France) Cycle Tour

The landscape between Carcassonne, Foix and Perpignan is a delightful place to ride a road bike. It is peppered with deep gorges, vineyards, thick forests and spectacular medieval castles. The narrow roads that link the pretty, sun-baked villages are quiet, generally well surfaced and far from flat, making for a satisfying exploration of this beautiful area. Phil and I have signed up to join Marmot Tours “Pyrenean Foothills” trip from 15 th  to 22 nd  May next year. The trip starts and finishes in Foix (free transfers from/to Toulouse airport) and offers 6 days of cycling with several choices of route on each day.
