Self Led Rides and a request for Ride Leaders to add their own rides.

UP-DATE, Saturday 9.30: Geoff has alerted us to a potential problem for Sunday. The bridge at Askham is closed for repairs. So could members have a chat at Lowther over coffee to discuss what they want to do about the rest of the day!

We are hoping to have Self-Led routes available for all cafe stops. We're not quite there yet but you will see new ones are appearing on the  RUNS LIST which is available on our website. For instance there is one for this Sunday 8th March starting at Frenchfield and heading for Lowther Castle and then onwards. The route should be downloaded direct from the Runs List.

At the start of this experiment I always posted on this blog a reminder of the upcoming Self-Led ride. In future the details will only be available through the Runs List.

As usual, please text or WhatsApp Mike on 07906896503 or better still post your intention to ride on the EV cycling or Cafe Stops group App. This might encourage others to join you! This seems to have worked quite well so far.

RIDE LEADERS: Please add your rides to the Runs List for this quarter. There is a free line above the cafe line. Please feel free to add an extra line if you wish to add an alternative when a ride has already been offered by another ride leader and enter the grade in the third column (2 or 3). (If you are not sure about adding lines let Mike know).

    Askham bridge is closed for repair even to pedestrians apparently so a diversion may be necessary!

Pyrenean Foothills (Mediterranean France) Cycle Tour

The landscape between Carcassonne, Foix and Perpignan is a delightful place to ride a road bike. It is peppered with deep gorges, vineyards, thick forests and spectacular medieval castles. The narrow roads that link the pretty, sun-baked villages are quiet, generally well surfaced and far from flat, making for a satisfying exploration of this beautiful area. Phil and I have signed up to join Marmot Tours “Pyrenean Foothills” trip from 15 th  to 22 nd  May next year. The trip starts and finishes in Foix (free transfers from/to Toulouse airport) and offers 6 days of cycling with several choices of route on each day.
