This Sundays Festive ride changed to Monday 23rd

 Hi Folks. We are concerned about the very strong winds forecast for Sunday, and have decided to run these rides on Monday instead, which is a much better forecast. Sadly this will not suit everyone, but better safe than sorry. Anyway the Sundays coffee stop will still take place.

So the Monday rides start at Beacon Edge opposite the lay-by, and the plan is for Rosie and I to lead 2 different rides, both going to Lowther for an early lunch, then a loop back to 15 Croft Terrace CA11 7RR, which is just below Beacon Edge for mince pies and mulled wine.

Simple Survey of interest in group holiday

Withdrawal of Sunday's 2 bike ride/Nigel

Some of you will have heard that Nigel came off his bike on ice on Wednesday. We were lucky in so many ways; Adella was promptly on the phone to call an ambulance, some people passing in cars provided sit mats and blankets and went to fetch us hot water bottles, another man provided hot sugared tea, the police were very helpful (including putting 2 bikes in the van to get them back to our vehicle) and the ambulance arrived after just over an hour. Nigel was taken to Lancaster hospital and given a bed on a ward by 7.30 p.m. Tomorrow afternoon he's due to be operated on by Mr/Dr Patel who we're told is an expert in management of people who have fractures after hip replacements - it's called a periprosthetic fracture apparently. Nigel's in good spirits and very appreciative of messages that have been sent to him. We're just taking it one day at a time, but as I intend to be visiting Sunday - I don't expect he will be discharged that soon but who knows? - I don'...
