3 bike ride - Sunday 2nd June

The ride will start at Greystoke at 9.30am.    The route will be over Kirkstone Pass to Ambleside and onward to Threlkeld and back to Greystoke via Mungrisedale and Berrier.    There will be a refreshment stop at Glenridding and maybe at Grasmere and/or Threlkeld depending on how riders feel.   Total distance is 50 miles.   At the moment the forecast is very favourable. I’m not in the habit of encouraging members to go on my rides - usually I try the opposite!   However I am offering a bribe for you to come on this ride.   I  have a set of large panniers and a bar bag with fittings I am giving away.   If you are interested I will have them at Greystoke.   They will go to the first person who wants them.    Otherwise I will take them to a charity shop next week. 3 bike ride Sunday 26th May

By recent standards due to be quite a good day - 'light rain showers and a gentle breeze!' So I thought I'd get the Alston ride out of my system. I promise I will not put it on again!  Starting at the Garage (Texaco/Spar) in Alston we back track to Garigill and then over into Nenthead so plenty of hills!(to make up for miles) and on down into Allenhead Town where there are numerous possibilities for refuelling. (but bring your own as always; it's BH weekend so may be closed/busy) We then return via Whitfield and Stonehouse. 73km and 1350m of ascent. Route here Hope to see a few hardy ones out!?

Late Notice Ride tomorrow (Sunday 19th May)

I shall be cycling to the 11s at the Old Village Bakery Melmerby tomorrow. I am intending to be at the bottom of the hill at Frenchfield Penrith for 0930 where it would be nice to meet others for the ride. (Alternatively you could start with me from Melmerby at 0830). My plan is to get to Melmerby for around 1100 by the usual routes through to Temple Sowerby (shorter route over Whinfell, longer via Temple Sowerby - 1.5 miles longer). The longer of these routes means you should have covered 17.5 odd miles (+ the 8 or so miles to Penrith for the eager rider).  For a return ride I propose to cycle to Renwick, Kirkoswald, Lazonby, Plumpton and thence back to Frenchfield (19.5 odd miles), OR, taking in Newton Reigny (24 odd miles). Pacing of Ride - '2'. Even if neither / none  of the options appeal to you I hope to see you at Melmerby. If you do intend to come with me, please let me know (07867 840534). Nigel
