Image
Ride starts at 9.30 from Greystoke. En route to Dalston we will cross the River Caldew 11 times covering the 26 miles to Dalston for lunch at a nice steady pace suitable as a grade 2 ride. (Bring a snack and drink if you feel you will need it - plenty of bridge opportunities for a snack!). Lunch is a jacket potato with a choice of filling and cakes (gluten free and vegan options available). Collection for Hospice at Home. A more direct 18 mile route back to Greystoke after lunch gives a total of 44 gentle miles. To help us know likely numbers expected please text/WhatsApp 07906896503 GPX file of route  Here

End to End

If anyone wishes to join in to welcome / ride with or contribute (see my post just below) it would be good.

Short Notice: Tomorrow 27.4.23 Morrisons 0900 to 1000

An End to End is passing through Penrith as above. It is to raise Funds for 'Acute Myeloid Leukaemia' (a Blood Cancer) research. A year ago, April 2022, Philippa died a very few days after diagnosis. The survival rate for this form of cancer is just 10%. Her husband with some support is doing an LEJOG over 8 days. Collection is as above.

AGM Update

Langwathby Village hall - lunch 12.30 AGM 14.00 I hope, as usual as many as can make it will come to our annual get-together and AGM. It makes what is a necessary function into a pleasant social occasion. We normally start with a bring and share lunch at 12.30 then start the AGM at 1400 The Agenda will be posted before the meeting but if anyone has an item they would like to discuss and feels that it is relevant to an AGM please contact me and I will add it to the list. < Current Agenda > here We have managed for a year to keep day to day aspects of the club functioning, without a Chair-person but it would be great if now that 'Covid' is passed we could have a fully working committee. Please consider giving up a small amount of your time to help run the club. The minutes of the previous AGM are posted on the web site so that you can approve these at the meeting - a few copies will be available at the meeting. Finally the pre AGM lunch at 12.30 works because

Bike Ride 09:30 Easter Sunday 9th April

Start at Armathwaite bridge & heading to Acorn bank for a one stop refreshment break. Route not set in stone but around 50 miles. Can be shortened if required. Listed as a 3 bike ride but a fairly easy paced 2/3 ride. All welcome. I realise it's Easter Sunday & that there may not be many (any) 'takers' & also Acorn bank could be busy (might need to byo food incase) but if you can make it it would be great to have a friend or two for company. Cheers. John H - text, WhatsApp 07855534727 or turn up at Armathwaite. P.S. Good weather has been requested again☀️😎

2 bike ride Wednesday 5 April

Sorry for the short notice; if anyone wishes to cycle from Langwathby to the Pot Place I would be glad of their company. I am doing the same ride as I did to UpFront on 12 March (which was actually the last time I was out) but as that was 3 and a half weeks ago, I hope you'll have forgotten it! Via Bowscar and the Stoneygate roundabout out, via Lazonby return with the option of lunch at Melmerby which would extend the route by  7 miles. I shall be leaving Langwathby at 10 am - even at my slow pace it shouldn't take longer than an hour. Company welcome. Alison
