3 Bike Ride, Sunday 1st September

68 mile, 3 bike ride starting at 09.30 hours from the Cenotaph, Rickerby Park, Carlisle (plenty of free parking). Route takes us through Kirklinton, Penton to Newcastleton (28 mile) for 'brunch'. There are no shops or cafes before then so byo if needed. Onto Bewcastle,  Birdoswald, Lanercost, Walton & return to Carlisle (choice of cafe stops after Bewcastle). Route  >> HERE << We will probably cross tracks with folk doing the Cross Border Sportive but there is plenty of room for everyone. There's no charge for my ride but no free food stops or  medals at the end... maybe a 'tick' of CJ 🤔😁 Text or WhatsApp John H 07855534727

3 Bike ride Wed 28th

This ride starts at Lazonby, the car park by the river Eden bridge at 9.30. We are going out to a coffee stop at Hallbankgate hub. Then onto Whitfield cafe for lunch. Return via Hartside. 63 miles. The route is  Here . A cool showery day so come prepared. Shorter options available if required. A bit hilly so good training for the club challenge rides. Phil B 07810751189

Challenge Rides in aid of Eden Valley Hospice - Closing date 1st September

Image
As well as helpers we need as many members as possible to take part   in this event. We have had an encouraging response from lots of local cyclists and it would be good if we could also support this event by taking part. So I would encourage you to register ( see this page on our website ) and help support Eden Valley Hospice. There will have to be a closing date so that we can finalise catering and documentation and this will be the end of the month (actually Sunday 1st September) Routes for all at 50km, 100km and 160km - So get signed up Thanks  Geoff PS If you really cannot do the ride - how about a small donation to the cause which you can make here through Just Giving

2 bike ride on Sunday 25th August from Langwathby to Dufton

From Alison - my challenge, which I have chosen to accept, is to find a route from Langwathby to Dufton which is as different as possible from the route cycled by Nigel and others today. I have succeeded; my planned route overlaps Nigel's route by only 3.1 miles out and the same on return, but.... the back roads inevitably mean more hills and given that I have hardly been out on my bike since the last ride I put on I will be even slower than normal. So... if you fancy a slow meander along the lanes less travelled, my plan is to leave Langwathby bus shelter at 9.30 am on Sunday morning and take the road towards Skirwith. The rest is a (hilly) magical mystery tour! Total mileage according to Google is 27.8 miles Alison 07500 564922

Wednesday 21st August (another late one) 2 cycle ride

I am proposing to leave Langwathby, by the bus stop, at 0930. approximately 16 / 17 miles to Appleby Hub 11s. Calling at Winskill, Skirwith, Blencarn, Milburn, Knock and Dufton. For a return (to Langwathby) I could do 21 miles odd (though I would be happy to make it less or more), via Colby, Bolton, Morland, Cliburn and Newbiggin. Please would you let me know if you intend to join me (message or phone). Nigel (07867 840534)

3 Bike Ride Wednesday 21st July, from Dalston

Late one! A 58 mile, 3 bike ride, starting from the car park in Dalston on Wednesday at 09.30 hours. Hesket Newmarket, Caldbeck to Uldale for refreshments at Mae's (17 mile). Heading to Mealsgate & out to the coast at Allonby (34 mile) for a quick refreshment stop if needed. Back inland to Abbyetown, Lessonhall & then 'wiggle' the way back to Dalston. Route  >> HERE << Forecast at this time is for some early sunny spells, some light rain at times & a fresh breeze, 16° C max. A mixed bag but shouldn't be too bad. 'Bail out' options just in case though. It would be good to have some company. Text or WhatsApp 07855534727 Cheers John H
